The Thai female boxing athletes are too young and inexperienced to succeed at the first female boxing events at the London Games 2012, says Thailand’s amateur boxing chief General Taweep Jantararoj.

General Taweep said there is not much hope for the current athletes for the success at the female flyweight, lightweight, and welterweight events which will be added to the next Olympic Games for the first time in London. He blamed the boxing promoters who handpicked the better skilled female pugilists and turned them professional.

The chief is also concerned of the male events, which are expected to be reduced to 10 to make place for the three female classes.

He said the International Amateur Boxing Association (AIBA) will likely prefer to cut the lighter male classes, but the Asian and South American countries will instead propose the AIBA to cut the heavier classes, which are contested mostly by European nations.

According to General Taweep, AIBA has asked him to have five members of the Thai boxing squad to participate in its new professional leagues, but he has declined the request, saying that Beijing Games gold medalist Somjit Jongjorhor is now over the AIBA age limit, while the other four boxers, Worapoj Petchkoom, brothers Manus and Non Boonjumnong, and Angkhan Chomphuphuang, are not “ready”.

General Taweep is planning to visit the national squad that is currently training at the Bonanza camp in Khao Yai. He is also preparing for an amateur youth tournament earlier next month.

ไอบ้าบรรจุมวยหญิงเข้าโอลิมปิกเกมส์ 2012

โดยบรรจุทั้งหมด 3 รุ่น ด้าน"เสธ.วีป"พล.อ.ทวีป จันทรโรจน์ นากยกสมาคมเสื้อกล้ามไทย ยอมรับนักชกหญิงของไทยยังแกร่งไมพอ เนื่องจากนักชกเก่งๆถูกดันไปชกอาชีพหมด...

จากกรณีที่ สหพันธ์มวย สากลสมัครเล่นนานาชาติ หรือ ไอบ้า บรรจุให้มวยหญิงมีแข่งขันในโอลิมปิกเกมส์ 2012 “ลอนดอนเกมส์” จำนวน 3 รุ่นได้แก่ รุ่นฟลายเวท รุ่นไลท์เวท และรุ่นเวลเตอร์เวท พล.อ.ทวีป  จันทรโรจน์ นายกสมาคมมวยเสื้อกล้ามไทยฯ เปิดเผยว่า ขณะนี้นักชกสาวไทยยังไม่แข็งแกร่งพอ เนื่องจากที่มีอายุยังน้อยและไม่มีประสบการณ์โอกาสที่จะได้ลุ้นคงยาก เป็นเพราะนักชกสาวตัวหลักที่มีความสามารถถูกโปรโมเตอร์ดึงไปต่อยอาชีพหมด

“เสธ.วีป” กล่าวอีกว่า การบรรจุมวยหญิงเข้าไป 3 รุ่นทำให้ต้องลดจำนวนมวยชายลงเหลือแค่ 10 รุ่น ซึ่งคาดว่าจะมีการตัดในรุ่นเล็กออกไป ซึ่งหากเป็นอย่างนั้นคงต้องถูกกระแสคัดค้านจากทางโซนอเซียรวมทั้งโซนอเมริกาใต้แน่นอน เพราะมีแต่นักมวยรุ่นเล็กๆ ทั้งนี้คงจะมีการประชุมของบรรดาชาติที่เสียเปรียบเพื่อที่จะเสนอให้มีการตัดโควต้าในรุ่นใหญ่แทน เพราะมีเพียงนักมวยในโซนยุโรปเท่านั้น

นายกมวยเสื้อกล้ามไทย กล่าวอีกว่า ทาง ไอบ้า ได้แจ้งให้นักมวยไทย 5 คนเข้าร่วมการแข่งขันรายการอาชีพของไอบ้า ประกอบด้วย สมจิตร  จงจอหอ,วรพจน์ เพชรขุ้ม,มนัส-นน บุญจำนงค์ และ อังคาร ชมพูพวง เนื่องจากนักชกไทยมีผลงานดีใน “ปักกิ่งเกมส์” แต่ทั้งนี้ตนได้แจ้งต่อทางไอบ้าไปแล้วว่าสภาพร่างกายนักมวย 4 รุ่นไม่พร้อม ส่วน สมจิตร มีอายุเกินกำหนดของไอบ้าทั้งนี้ ตนจะเข้าไปเยี่ยมชมการฝึกซ้อมลงนวมของ นักมวยไทยทั้งหมดที่แคมป์โบนันซ่าเขาใหญ่ วันเสาร์ที่ 15 ส.ค.นี้ และจะมีการแถลงข่าวการแข่งขันมวยสมัครเล่นเยาวชนชาย หญิง ครั้งที่ 5 ระหว่างวันที่ 1-7 ก.ย. ที่ห้างเดอะมอลล์ บางแค โดยมีการถ่ายทอดสดทางช่อง 7 สี ในรอบชิงชนะเลิศ โดยจะใช้ชื่อรายการ "กรุงไทยแบงค์แชมเปี้ยนชิพ" เพื่อเฟ้นหานักมวยสู่ทีมชาติเป็นความหวังโอลิมปิกเกมส์
