“Big Nhum”, Kanokphan Julakaseam, SAT chief suspends an application for a new amateur boxing association of General Bunlert Kaewprasit. He currently uses a special team to send Thai vest boxers to attend qualification match for Olympic Games at Azerbaijan first.
Mr.Kanokphan Julakaseam, the chief of Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT) revealed the progress of resolution on amateur boxing association, which its membership was revoked by the International Boxing Association (AIBA) and its suffix, “of Thailand”, was revoked by SAT. Major general Jaruek Areerajkaran, vice-president and secretariat of Olympic committee of Thailand has negotiated with AIBA president, Hsing Kou Wu. He accepted the proposal of SAT and Olympic committee of Thailand that SAT can set a special team to send Thai boxer to join AIBA-approved international competitions. Regarding to this, Mr.Montri Chaiyaphan, vice-chief of executive, as a leader of the team, has proceeded fully. Particularly, the list of Thai boxers will be submitted within 15 July before the first qualification match for Olympic Games in September in Azerbaijan. This is an urgent issue that must be done as fast as possible. SAT chief continued, regarding to a newly established permanent amateur boxing association with Mr.Montri as a working team leader, SAT would proceed simultaneously. They will invite related people to work as consultants in order to facilitate the job. For this step, new members will be invited as transparent as possible. After that, an election for association president will be rearranged. Then SAT will approve and transfer to the Department of Local Administration to approve its status before applying for permanent AIBA membership. This will offer the right to send Thai boxers to join competitions, such as 26th Sea Games in November, Indonesia. All procedures were expected to take about a few months to complete.
