Kaewsamrid Training Camp matriarch “Aoy” said muaythai fighter Pettawee Sor Kittichai had refused two matches planned by promoter Songchai Rattanasuban as he would not fight any boxer from her camp.

Songchai had twice paired up Pettawee with a boxer from Kaewsamrid camp in his Onesongchai event. First, Pettawee was planed to fight with Anuwat Kaewsamrid, but when Pettawee refused to fight, Songchai arranged another match of him and Ridthichak Kaewsamrid which Pettawee again declined.

According to Aoy, Pettawee could not make up his mind to fight someone who had lived and trained together with him.

“Pettawee called me and wanted me and my husband to tell Mr. Songchai he would not fight anyone from Kaewsamrid camp,” said Aoy, who is the wife of Kaewsamrid camp owner Srimuang Singsuanngen.

Despite the recent change of muaythai rules at Lumpini Stadium, Ratchadamnern Stadium will stick to its current muaythai rules, says technical delegate Prommes Chaksurak.

According to an earlier report, the Lumpini Stadium has enforced new muaythai rules on grappling and kneeing on May 9 to discourage the stalling and to “beautify” the sport. The new rules have resulted in some confusion and mixed opinions from the sport fans, some of whom were curious if other stadiums, especially Ratchadamnern, would follow the Lumpini’s initiative.

The technical delegate of Ratchadamnern Stadium, Prommes Chaksurak, confirmed that his stadium had no plan to change its rules although he had been monitoring the changes at Lumpini and believed it was an improvement.

“For the Ratchadamnern Stadium which is under my authority, there is no change and the judging will follow the current rules,” said Prommes.

Priyakorn Rattanasuban, affectionately called “Little Thongchai,” has realized the hardship of the female muaythai sport as the trainer for her fighter was sick and could not join the trip to fight in Japan. Priyakorn herself has to perform various laborious tasks including oil massage to the fighter and coaching at the ring. She is surely returning to Thailand with much more understanding of the sport.

Singkasem Banponlamuangdee had a car accident in the middle of the night after a party at his senior Sun Kiatpet last Sunday. Singkasem was driving fast in heavy rain until he clashed his car at the Viphavadee Intersection. His car was the forth in the pileup of seven cars. Instead of being glad that he was still alive, Singkasem was terrified to find out the third car in the pileup that he ran into was a police car.

Muaythai promoter Sommai Sakulmetta is widely praised by the fans for both his deep pocket and willingness to take risks with his own reputation as the stake. It is Sommat who has realized many great matches that collected only 200 Baht for a ticket.

Sommai is the organizer of the famous Suek Sor Sommai event of Ratchadamnern Stadium. His decision to sell the tickets of the upcoming top matches for only 200 Baht for the second and third tiers has made the fans very exciting. Knowing well that Ratchadamnern Stadium does not gain much earning for the tourists who would spend a considerable amount of money buying ringside tickets, some of the fans promised to come watch every Suek Sor Sommai match and to bring more friends.
