New Thai female WBC Championship
Thursday, 06 September 2007
The WBC Women's Championship at Phak Hai Sub-district, Phak Hai District, Ayutthaya on August 31 was the interim atomweight fight between Winyou Paradorn Gym from Thailand and Japanese Momo Koseiki.

Koseiki opened aggressively right from the beginning, which saw Winyou frustrated with several punches. However, after the fifth round, the Thai fighter found her rhythm. She landed left-right punches to the face and body of the Japanese.

After 10 rounds, Winyou beat the opponent on points decision 96-94 96-94 96-95 to capture the WBC atomweight crown and emerge as the second Thai women's fighter winning the world crown next to Samson Sor Siriporn.

The other bout saw Chonlathan Or Piriyaphinyo successfully defend her ABC featherweight title after knocking out Filipino Winwin Trufino in the fifth round.   "It's one of the happiest days I have in life. I'm very happy to win the world crown and was a part to bring fame and reputation to the country. However, I admit that my form was not that good in this fight because the rival is left-hander and I was frustrated with such dangerous weapon. From now, I will try to train much harder to keep the title as long as possible," Winyou said.   Koseiki expressed her dissatisfaction over the judges' decision. "I was cheated. It was an unfair judgment and the judges were biased as they did not drop points from the Thai fighter as she held me tight for a long time. If possible, I would like to make a comeback attempt, but the fight must take place in Japan."

"Big Song" Songchai Rattanasuban also said that he is delighted that Thailand has a new women's world champion. "It's great to see a new world women's champion in Thailand. However, I admit that Winyou has yet performed well in the fight. It's likely because she is new and needs more experience. I hope if she trains much harder from now on, she will has a bright prospect."
