Beijing Games flyweight boxing champion Somjit Jongjohor and legendary boxer Khaosai Galaxy yesterday visited inmate boxers in prison at Pathum Thani, Thailand.

The two boxers joined the recreational activities including music, live comedy, and religious activities at the Pathum Thani Correctional Institution where about 2,700 inmates reside. They also helped train the inmate boxers as well as donating sport equipments.

Beijing Games flyweight boxing champion Somjit Jongjohor and veteran muaythai fighter Saenchai Sor Kingstar have won the prestigious Siam Sport awards last night.

Somjit won both the popular vote and the best amateur male athlete awards at the event held in Bangkok in the night of March 6, while the female amateur award went to weightlifter Prapawadee Jaroenrattanatarakoon, who is also a Beijing Games gold medalist.

Somjit is the third individual to win the popular award, following legendary boxer Khaosai Galaxy and star soccer player Piyapong Piew-on.
