Thailand’s Buakaw Por Pramuk has beat Nieky "The Natural" Holtzken by unanimous decision in the K-1 bout in Japan yesterday, earning himself a spot in the round of four against Andy Souwer in October.

Two-time K-1 champion Buakaw fought Holtzken at the Nippon Budokan stadium in Tokyo on July 13 as one of the four matches in the tournament’s round of eight. The Thai seemed determined but calm when he approached Holtzken and began the game with a left kick strike, following with a right cross punch. 

Through out the three rounds, the calm Buakaw was able to prevent the Dutch opponents from making attacks, and emerged as the winner of the fight by score of 30-28 from each of the three judges.

This is the second time Buakaw has defeated Holtzken. He earlier beat the Dutch by decision in the round of 16 in K-1 2007.

In the next fight on October 26 at the Yokohama Arena in Japan, Buakaw will face Dutch Souwer, who is also a two-time K-1 champion. The winner of the match will pass to the final on the same day and have a shot to become the first fighter to win the tournaments three times.

ศึกเค-วัน แม็ก 2009 เมื่อวันที่ 13 ก.ค.ที่ผ่านมาซึ่งเป็นการดวลหมัดในรอบ 8 คนสุดท้ายที่สังเวียน นิปปอนบูโดกัน กรุงโตเกียว โดยมี บัวขาว ป.ประมุข แชมป์ 2 สมัย 2004-2006 ชาวไทยผ่านเข้ามาทำการแข่งขันในรอบนี้ด้วยโดย ขึ้นชกกับ นิคกี โฮลส์เกน นักชกฮอลแลนด์

ก่อน หน้านี้ ทั้งคู่เคยเผชิญหน้าประลองฝีมือมาครั้งหนึ่งแล้วในการแข่งขันรอบ 16 คนสุดท้ายศึกเค-วัน แม็ก 2007 ซึ่งคราวนั้นบัวขาวเป็นฝ่ายชนะคะแนนไปซึ่งครั้งนี้ บัวขาวชก ดูตั้งอกตั้งใจเป็นพิเศษย่างสามขุมเข้าหาพอเข้าระยะก็วางแข้งซ้ายเปิดเกมตาม ด้วยหมัดขวาตรง และชกอย่างใจเย็นและอย่างรัดกุมไม่เปิดโอกาสให้โฮลส์เกนได้ออกอาวุธได้ถนัด

จนกระทั่ง ครบยก กรรมการรวมคะแนนแล้วให้บัวขาวชนะไป30-28 ทั้ง 3 เสียง ผ่านเข้าสู่รอบรองชนะเลิศไปพบกับ แอนดี ซาวเออร์ แชมป์ 2 สมัย 2005-2007 ชาวฮอลแลนด์ ที่เอาชนะ อาร์เธอร์ คีเชนโก รองแชมป์เมื่อปีที่แล้ว ชาวยูเครนโดยในการแข่งขันรอบรองชนะเลิศจะมีขึ้นในวันจันทร์ที่ 26 ต.ค.นี้ ที่ โยโกฮามา อารีนา

สำหรับ ผู้ชนะในรอบรองชนะเลิศจะผ่านเข้าชิงแชมป์ในวันเดียวกันนั้นเลย ซึ่งการแข่งขันในคู่ของบัวขาวกับ แอนดี ซาวเออร์ ถือเป็นไฮไลต์สำคัญเพราะมีดีกรีแชมป์ 2 สมัยด้วยกันทั้งคู่ผู้ชนะมีโอกาสสร้างสถิติใหม่ด้วยการครองแชมป์ 3 สมัย
