Amateur boxing camp was broken after Sports Authority of Thailand abolished the association since the International Boxing Association has revoked Amateur Boxing Association of Thailand’s membership. The team, which General Narin Tabprasit was elected as a president, did not arrange reelection within 30 June 2010 as ordered, making boxing team withdrawn from every program approved by AIBA. At the same time, Sports Authority of Thailand prohibited the use of word, “of Thailand”.

Lately, on 2 July, at the boxing camp of Thai team, Taruea, Phra Nakhon Sir Ayutthaya, “Coach Sam”, master sergeant Kamanit Nareerak, the leader of boxing coach team revealed that he let all boxers pack their bags and go home. He asked them to leave their addresses and phone numbers so that he would call them immediate if there are changes. He comforted everyone that they have done their best until the last moment.

“Coach Sam”, explained that after the boxing association was prohibited the use of word “of Thailand” by SAT and its membership was revoked by AIBA, he has not receive any contact from boxing association and SAT. He has just taken flight tickets for boxers to travel for international boxing battle, “President’s Cup”, on 3-9 July in Indonesia. They will depart at night of 2 July, 20.00 o’clock. The plan was canceled when they were informed about the news. All boxers were discouraged. Some of them even cried since these boxing have been through many troubles. He wanted to ask that if a new boxing association is reestablished and approved by AIBA, how would they find boxers? If the old team is assigned, can they compensate for the time they are suspended?

“Set Narin”, General Narin said that when SAT has revoked the use of word “of Thailand”, the association has to immediately stop all roles and duties including participating the international boxing competition, “President’s Cup” on 14-20 July in Indonesia. He will also cancel King’s Cup boxing competition on 14-20 July, which they intended to arrange for celebration of the king’s age of 84 years. He has sent letters to all countries. This is considered a great damage to the country.

In the meantime, AIBA delivered an official statement that they had revoked Thailand’s membership and it was in effect at once. This issued will be brought to the conference from 31 July to 1 August in Kazakhstan for approval. AIBA’s revocation causes Thai boxers and coaches not able to attend all competitions arranged by AIBA. AIBA will approve a newly established organization. An application of a new organization will be approved by AIBA’s board of directors in accordance with the international Olympic covenant. Initially, a new organization will receive temporary membership.
