Thailand’s Denkaosan Kaovichit has been defeated by Daiki Kameda by unanimous decision, losing the WBA flyweight title to the Japanese challenger in the match on Sunday.
The title defense bout held at Kobe World Memorial Hall in Kobe, Japan, on February 7 was somewhat unimpressive as both boxers chose to engage in frequent clinching rather than fighting, before they ran out of their steam in the later rounds, unable to knock each other out.
Denkaosan, in particular, was penalized twice in the sixth and eleventh rounds for clinching, although he had a good start and was able to land some hits to the Japanese pugilist’s midsection. The Thai, however, was quickly exhausted and tables were turned in favor of Kameda.
In the ninth round, the tired Denkaosan was no longer able to hold himself firm but Kameda failed to grab the chance and finish him off. It was opposite in the next round as the Thai stepped back instead of attempting to add more offenses to the flurry of punches that effectively stunned Kameda.

WBC stawweight champion Oleydong Sithsamerchai will defend his title against Japanese challenger Yasutaka Kuroki in Japan on March 27.
Kuroki’s promoter recently announced that the Japanese pugilist will challenge Oleydong at Ariake Coliseum in Tokyo on March 27. The Thai champion’s manager, however, said he had not learned of the exact date but would agree with the arrangement by his Japanese counterpart.
Kuroki, currently the OPBF strawweight title holder, has defeated fellow Japanese boxer Takumi Suda on February 1 by technical knockout in the sixth round after a head clash that caused severe bleeding for his opponent. Kuroki now has a record of 27 wins with 15 knockouts, three loses and one draw.

Boxing manager Niwat Laosuwannawat is confident WBA flyweight champion Denkaosan Kaovichit will beat Daiki Kameda in their rematch in Japan in early February.
Denkaosan defeated Kameda in his title defense in Osaka on October 6 last year. The head of Kameda’s gym made headlines as he announced he would protest the result to the WBA, leading to both sides agreeing to hold a rematch, scheduled on February 7 in Kobe, Japan.
Niwat said Denkaosan is in prime conditions but will continue to train himself as the bout against Kameda will be crucial to his world champion career. He has assigned former world champion Khaosai Galaxy and long-time trainer Durong Apollo to supervise the training.

WBC flyweight champion Koki Kameda will defend his title against Thai “interim” title holder Pongsaklek Wonjongkam in Japan within a few months, say Pongsaklek’s promoters.
Thai promoters Wirat and Piyarat Wachiraratanawong initially wanted the WBC match to be held in Thailand but later agreed with their Japanese counterparts to have Kameda and Pongsaklek fight in Japan in either late March or early April this year.
In addition, they also agreed to let WBC stawweight champion Oleydong Sithsamerchai, another of their top boxers, fight challenger Yasutaka Kuroki in the same event, although Kuroki is scheduled to fight fellow Japanese boxer Takumi Suda on February 1.

The beginning of 2010 will see title bouts of several Thai boxers including WBC flyweight “interim” title holder Pongsaklek Wonjongkam who will fight real champion Koki Kameda of Japan in a mandatory bout.
The Japanese and Thai promoters are currently in negotiation with a planned revenue sharing scheme that allows Koki Kameda to take 55% of the earning and Pongsaklek the remaining.
If the two camps could not reach an agreement within early January, they would have to submit bids to the WBC. The bid winner would be required to hold the match within three months.

Filipino superstar boxer Manny Pacquiao is threatening defamation suit against American Floyd Mayweather Jr. and several other people on the latter’s camp, jeopardizing their much-anticipated fight scheduled on March 13.
Mayweather and his promoters reportedly suggested that Pacquiao rejected their proposed random drug testing prior to the fight because he was taking steroids.
In response, the furious Filipino boxer said he would file defamation suit against the American boxer, his father Floyd Mayweather Sr. and his uncle Roger Mayweather as well as Oscar De La Hoya and Richard Schaefer of Golden Boy Promotions, leaving the boxing fans to doubt whether the March 13 super fight would still be held.
