Fahpetchnoi may fight Naito for WBC title in December

Fahpetchnoi Kratingdang Gym may fight WBC flyweight Daisuke Naito in December this year, says promoter Piyarat Wachirarattanawong.

Piyarat said Hiroyuki Miyata, promoter and manager of Daisuke, has contacted him to send one of his boxers to challenge the WBC title from Naito at Hokkaido, Japan, on December 4.

Asides from Fahpetchnoi, two other fighters, Chatchai Sor Thanayong and Noknoi Kratingdang Gym, are also selected by Miyata as a possible candidate for the fight with Naito in Kokkaido.

Piyarat said the deal has not been finalized but he prefers Fahpechnoi to be the challenger although the Thai boxer is currently in a different weight class.

WBC light flyweight Samson Sor Siriporn says she is begging Chuwong Tumkit to “release her free” and is ready to accept offer from a new promoter.

Samson told the journalists at the Sports Authority of Thailand on September 29, after applying for welfare of the boxing fund, that she wanted a security in life and legal protection as she did not feel “happy” under the wing of famed promoter Chuwong “Eddie” Tumkit.

“I feel I am on the disadvantages in all aspects, especially the money matters, because whatever I am doing, the promoter will always get more share, making me feel uncomfortable. He also orders me on what to say to the media,” said the female WBC champion.

Samson's defending bout rescheduled to December

WBC light flyweight Samson Sor Siriporn is rescheduled to defend her title against Kim Hae-min in early December.

The Thai champion was earlier planned to fight Korean Kim on October 7 in Thailand but the title match was cancelled, said Samson’s promoter, Chuwong “Eddie” Tumkit.

Chuwong said the World Boxing Council (WBC) has approved the rescheduled match which will be held on some time between December 1 and December 10 this year depending on the arrangement with the broadcaster.

De La Hoya-Pacquiao tickets sold out

Tickets of the fight of Oscar De La Hoya and Manny Pacquiao have been sold out in just hours after the release.

The so-called mega fight will be held at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on December 6. Despite the large capacity of the stadium that can hold 16,000 spectators, the tickets for the matches were sold out, except for a small number of seats, in just hours after its release on September 24, making it the second highest ticket sales of any boxing bout.

Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer estimated that the total sales value of the tickets would total about 17 million US Dollars (578 million Baht) as the De La Hoya vs. Pacquiao match is one of the most anticipated boxing fights of the modern time.

Rattanapol barred from bouts in the south

PABA champion Rattanapol Korkietgym is prohibited by his promoter to fight in the southern provinces due to fear that the politically-active boxer could anger the anti-government southerners.

Rattanapol, who was publicly know for his support of a controversial former prime minister and for his public appearance to the street protesters, triggered a riot at the ring in Phattalung earlier this month. The angry local crowds, who were anti-government, seized the stage where Rattanapol was supposed to fight.

Noknoi successfully retains his title, Oleydong-Korn well engage a warming-up fight

WBC straw weight champion (105 lbs) Oleydong Kratingdaenggym engaged a warming-up fight and defeated Serga John from Indonesia in the fourth round. While Noknoi Kratingdaenggym defended defended his WBC Youth light flyweight championship and won Indonesian challenger Argus Merrang in the fourth round. The former WBC flyweight champion Pongsaklek Kratingdaenggym won over Mohamed Rachman from Iran by TKO in the sixth round.

The first bout of WBC championship at Wat Pakbung temporary boxing stadium, Romklao Rd., Minburi, Bangkok on 25 September, WBC straw weight champion (105 lbs) Oleydong Kratingdaenggym  engaged a warming-up fight with Serga John from Indonesia. Oleydong controlled the game and won by a left hook on the opponent’s torso in the fourth round.

Patomchoke wins split decision against Gabejan

Patomchoke Patompothong has defeated Edgar Gabejan by split decision in a match in Bangkok on September 19.

The match, held at Siam Commercial School, was originally planned to be an IBF Pan-Pacific junior featherweight match with Thai champion Patomchoke defending his tile from Gabejan, but the promoters agreed to arrange a non-title ten-round match after the Filipino boxer was found to be over the class weight by three and a half pounds.
