Nongmuay Kokietgym has claimed the “vacant” WBC female light flyweight title by defeating South Korea’s Kim Dan-Bi in a somewhat controversial match yesterday.
The Thai fighter, who is also known as Nongmuay Sithkruleor, was able to defeat Kim by unanimous decision in the match in Nakorn Ratchasima, Thailand, on January 29, despite having a weight of four pounds below her opponent.
She has claimed the WBC female light flyweight title that was earlier stripped from Samson Tor Buamad, or Samson Sor Siriporn, for her absence from fights, following the high-profile conflict of the boxer and her former promoter Chuwong “Eddy” Tumkit. Samson is now a "champion emeritus", according to the WBC.
