General Chetta Thanajaro, the president of World Muaythai Council cooperated with Mister Clifton Brown, the executive of Warrior Cast Production Company Limited to invest 250 million Baht on “Muaythai Premier League” expecting to spread Muaythai all over the world. The prize was 1.5 million Baht. The first match will be held in America on 2 Septemper and the final round will be organized in Bangkok.
On Thursday 2 June 2011 at Park Plaza Hotel, there was a press conference about professional Muaythai moving toward Hollywood, “Muaythai Premier League”, in 9 big cities worldwide. In this event, General Chetta Thanajaro, the president of the World Muaythai Council, was the leader of the event. Mister Clifton Brown, the executive of Warrior Cast Production Company Limited, and representatives of Muaythai boxers also attended this press conference.
In the event, “Bie Wieng”, General Chetta Thanajaro revealed about the competition that it was cooperation between the World Muaythai Council, Amateur Boxing Association of Thailand and Warrior Cast Production Company Limited. As a promoter and manager of this competition, he realized the importance of Muaythai, respected by people all over the world, that it was one of powerful martial arts. It could be seen that 128 member countries worldwide highly gave precedence to Muaythai. Therefore, he intended to organize a world professional Muaythai competition or “Muaythai Premier League”. The competition will be held in 9 big cities, for example, Los Angeles (America), Amsterdam (Netherland), Beijing (China), Brisbane (Australia), Stockholm (Sweden), and Bangkok, Thailand. At the same time, he prepared to make a documentary film of Thai Boxers to show boxing fans throughout the world of what elite boxers have been through before they success. Sonia Cooling, a famous star-model, will be an MC in this program.
About the system of this competition, there will be only 5 weight limitations, including 4 male limitations, 66 kg., 72.5 kg., 81 kg., and 95 kg. and female weight limitation includes only 63.5 kg. Each weight limitation will be attended by 8 sportsmen. The first round will be tournament in order to choose the best score collector for the semi-final round and the final round respectively. The TKO winner will be given 3 points; 2 points for score winner, 1 point for draw, and 0 point for lose. The winner will be rewarded with 50,000 US dollar (1.5 million Baht approximately). The second place winner will receive 12,000 US dollar (about 360,000 Baht approximately). The third and the forth place winner will receive 10,000 US dollar (300,000 Baht approximately). Qualified sportsmen will receive 7,000 US dollar for each round. The total budget is above 250 million Baht. The first round will begin on 2 September in Los Angeles, America. The final round will be held in Thailand, the country of origin.
Regarding to this the president of World Muaythai Council revealed that he sent 3 weight limitations of boxers, including Yodsaenklai Fairtex (72.5 kg.), Saenchai Sinbi Muaythai (66 kg.), and Klaoklai Joggygyms (81 kg.). Each one is elite boxer and their skill is respected worldwide. He expected that this competition would inspire youths and publicize the historical event of this sport to the people.
