Thailand and Laos launch new muaythai stadium in Vientiane

Thailand and Laos have officially launched the project of a 67-million-Baht muaythai stadium that will be used for the upcoming SEA Games in Vientiane, Laos.

Thai Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva and his Laotian counterpart Bouasone Bouphavanh have jointly performed a ceremony to start the construction of a new stadium in Vientiane, Laos, which will be used for muaythai in the upcoming 25th SEA Games on December 9-18 this year.

The Thai government is funding the construction of the new 67-million-Baht muaythai stadium as well as the nine-million-Baht renovation of another existing stadium that will be used for wushu and shuttlecock. It will also sponsor the training of Laotian judges, officials, and athletes for the SEA Games.

In response to the inquiries of Prime Minister Abhisit at the ceremony on January 23, Thailand’s Sport Authority’s chief said the construction would be completed in November and the stadium would be able to hold up to 1,500 speculators.

The Thai premier praised the project, while Prime Minister Bouasone said he considered it an auspicious sign for the development of sports in the two countries.

'อภิสิทธิ์'วางศิลาฤกษ์โรงยิมลาว

นาย อภิสิทธิ์ เวชชาชีวะ นายกรัฐมนตรีของไทย ได้เดินทางไปกรุงเวียงจันทน์ ประเทศลาว เมื่อวันที่ 23 ม.ค. เพื่อวางศิลาฤกษ์อาคารกีฬาอเนกประสงค์ “มิตรภาพลาว-ไทย” มูลค่า 67,000,000 บาท ซึ่งรัฐบาลไทยได้ให้งบประมาณในการก่อสร้าง เพื่อให้ลาวใช้ในการเป็นเจ้าภาพจัดกีฬาซีเกมส์ ครั้งที่ 25 ระหว่างวันที่ 9-18 ธ.ค.นี้

โดยทันทีที่นายอภิสิทธิ์ เดินทางมาถึงสนามกีฬาบึงขยอง นายบัวสอน บุปผาวัน นายกรัฐมนตรีของลาว ให้การต้อนรับ จากนั้นผู้นำของ 2 ประเทศได้ฟังบรรยายความเป็นมาในการก่อสร้าง ซึ่งรัฐบาลไทยให้ความช่วยเหลือมูลค่า 85,000,000 บาท แบ่งเป็น การปรับปรุงโรงยิมเนเซียมหลังเก่า ที่จะใช้ในการแข่งขันกีฬาวูซู และชัดเติลค็อก ประมาณ 9,000,000 บาท, การก่อสร้างโรงยิมเนเซียมหลังใหม่ ที่จะใช้ในการแข่งขันกีฬามวยไทย มูลค่า 67,000,000 บาท และที่เหลือเป็นเงินในการช่วยพัฒนา บุคลากร ไม่ว่าจะเป็น ผู้ตัดสิน, เจ้าหน้าที่, นักกีฬา ก่อนที่นายอภิสิทธิ์ และนายบัวสอน จะร่วมกันวางศิลาฤกษ์ ถือเป็นวันเริ่มต้นในการก่อสร้างอาคารแห่งใหม่นี้อย่างเป็นทางการ

หลังจากนั้น นายกรัฐมนตรีของไทย ได้สอบถามว่า โรงยิมเนเซียมแห่งนี้ มีความจุเท่าไหร่ ซึ่งผู้ว่าการ กกท. ได้ตอบว่า สามารถจุผู้ชมได้ 1,500 คน และนายกรัฐมนตรีของไทยยังได้ถามอีกว่า จะก่อสร้างเสร็จทันเดือน พ.ย. ไหม ก่อนที่นายกนกพันธุ์ จะตอบว่า โรงยิมเนเซียมแห่งนี้ จะเสร็จในกลางเดือน พ.ย. แน่นอน ทำให้นายอภิสิทธิ์ ถึงกับเอ่ยปากชมว่า ดี ๆ พร้อมกับกำชับ ผู้ว่าการ กกท.ว่า ให้เร่งการก่อสร้างต่าง ๆ ให้เป็นไปตามกำหนด ขณะที่นายกรัฐมนตรีของลาว กล่าวว่า เมื่อไทยและลาวได้ร่วมกันวางศิลาฤกษ์แห่งนี้แล้ว ก็ถือเป็นนิมิตหมายอันดีต่อการพัฒนาวงการกีฬาของทั้ง 2 ประเทศต่อไป โดยฝ่ายลาวอาจจะมีเรื่องที่จะต้องขอความช่วยเหลือจากไทยอีก.
