Thammasat University has reportedly announced that it would not include boxing in the national university games that it would host in 2010.

Khaosod newspaper columnist “Daeng Tanee” has reported that Thammasat University, who would host the 37th national university games in 2010, has decided not to include amateur boxing in the games.

The university reportedly said boxing could be a dangerous sport in the games due to the difference of skills of the beginning boxers and veteran fighters who have shifted from muaythai to amateur boxing. It also reasoned that boxing is not “suitable” as a university sport.
