From the column Flowers in the Glove, By Muay Siam Daily 19 Semtember 2007 Aman Jitti Gym, 14, from Leicester, England, made her debut attempt in Muay Thai at 9. She trained in her family’s gym, with her father Mark and mother Maxim Balai owning the gym called “Assaxim”. This was just because her parents were former Muay Thai fighters and used to learn Muay Thai skills in Sor Voraphin Camp some 20 years ago before they fell in love with each other and went back to open the Muay Thai gym in Leicester. Aman has a younger brother named “Tai”. Both have a passion for Muay Thai. Aman traveled in several countries such as Finland, the Netherlands, Russia, Scotland and Thailand for Muay Thai competitions. On August 25, Aman clinched the S1, light flyweight (108 pound) title in Bangkok Stadium after knocking out Petchsakhon Sor Anchalee in round four. Aman has so far been training with Tai Jitti Gym and was asked by “Big Song” Songchai Rattanasuban, No 1 promoter of Thailand, to travel to Thailand for the fight Suek December 5 the Great King. Her opponent will be Nong Paet Kor Saklamphun, seemingly the best 108-pound fighter. Keep your eyes on the fight and guess who – the Farang with Thai heart and the Thailand’s best – will win.
