The 32th King's Cup international-style boxing match was organized at MCC Hall, The Mall Ngamwongwan, on 7th April. This championship match was opened by “Big Odd”, general Yutthasak Sasiprapha, the committee chairman of Olympic of Thailand. Thai boxers has entered 6 types of competitions and won all types as follows. Light flyweight (48 kg), Kaew Phongprayun (Thai A) won RSC Verachon Yodwichai (Thai B) in the second round. Flyweight (51 kg), Amnat Ruenreung from Thai A used beautiful boxing technique to defeat against Stephanof Seamen (Russia), with score 6-1. Bantamweight (54 kg), Chatchai Buddee (Thai A) defeated Donchai Tathi (Thai B) with score 3-0.

Featherweight (57 kg), Thai boxers competed on each other. This is considered as a highlight match between Worapot Petchkum, silver medal boxer of Olympic 2004, “Athen Games”, returned to fight in team B after 2 years of suspension for his master degree study, versus Wuthichai Masuk, a rising star with 19 years old from Thai A, who won Asia competition in the last year. This match was powerful because “Set Taweep”, general Taweep Chantararoj, the president of amateur boxing association announced to assign the winner as a major boxer in Team A. In result, Worapot took advantage from his experience to defeat his junior with score 5-0. He obtained gold and successfully reclaim his national team A position.

Lightweight (60 kg), Sailom Ardee (Thai A) defeated RSC Aphichart Kulsri (Thai B) in the second round. Light welterweight (64 kg), Aphichet Saensit (Thai A) defeated Somsak Armar (Katar) with score 5-2. Middleweight (75 kg), Subcof Alexander (Russia) defeated Peter Mulenburg (Holland) with score 3-0. Copper medal prize was granted to Kreangkrai Sukkhum (Thai B) and Suriya Prasathinpimai (Thai A). Light heavyweight (81 kg), Yakusev Aduard (Russia) won against Kim Dong Ho (South Korea) with score 6-3.

In conclusion, Thai A boxers won 5 golden, 1 silver, and 1 copper medals. They obtained a championship cup of total score and possessed King’s cup on the 9th time consecutively and this is the 17th time for Thai boxers. The 2nd winner was Russia, and the 3rd was Thai B. The best boxer was Amnat Ruenreung, Thai A boxer in flyweight type.

After the competition, general Taweep said that the winner would be assigned in team A, however, this is not a team for the 16th Asian Games, “Guang Zhou Games” because their skill must be assessed again in order to achieve the best boxer for the competition. The assessment will be considered in national fight matchs and continual competitions. He accepted that he was quite concerned because this time Asian Games will be organized in China and there are many skillful boxers. However, he believed in the potential of new Thai boxers that they can win golden medal in low-weight types, especially in 49, 52, and 56 kg types. IBA has adjusted new types for King’s cup in this year. He was satisfied in the potential of team A and team B. Both of these teams can substitute each other. Moreover, their skill is similar. Therefore, there is no need for star boxer. Whoever does not fully practice can no longer stay in national team. As well as Manat Boonjamnong, Olympic 2004 golden medal boxer and Olympic 2008 silver medal boxer. He must dedicate on practice for his return.
