The chairman of the Amateur Boxing Association of Thailand has been supported to become a senator. General Yuthasak Sasiprabha, the chairman of Thai Olympic Committee said the committee agreed to support General Thaweep Chantaroj to become of one selected senator. He said Thaweep is potential person who expereinces many jobs involving in sports as he was a member of the Sport Authority of Thailand and deputy chairman of Olympic Thai Committee. Yuthasak said he had discussed with Major General Charouck Arirachakaran, the secretary general for the OCT who also qualified for the senator position but Charouck who once was a senator denied and proposed Thaweep who both Yuthasak and Charouck agreed on his qualifications. |

Philippines postpones defending fight due to broadcast programme. |

Philippines will postpone the defending fight by WBO Bantamweight champion Jerry Penalosa with Thai Rattanachai Singwangcha for a week due to broadcast programme. Kokiert Panichayarom from Kokiert Group said the fight between Penalosa, title holder from Philippines with Rattanachai will postpon from 24 Febuary to 2 March because the problem of live broadcast programme. He said the postpone of one week, will benefit Thai boxer who will have more times to train. "The one-week postpone is acceptable," Kokiert said. |

Several ten million baht were revenued for Thailand last year when there were many boxers parade out of the country to gained money. Foreign promoters continue their interests to Thai boxers by organising more matches in 2008. The payments are depend on their reputations and abilities but it is double or triple their incomes here anyway.

But the bad news was boxers still remain recieveing the same amout of money or a bit higher than fighting in Thailand while they should recieve at least 50 percent . The shocked news rocked Thai boxing when Rajamongkon Kokiert Gym annouced he was retiring from the boxing after lost to Filipino Ariel Delgado. He will turn to do business. Oud Sor Ploenchit, Rajamongkon's head, was considering to support Rajamongkon to return for Muaythai if he wants. Five Thai amateur boxers booked their places for Olympic in Beijing, another four more will be known during 24 January to 3 Febuary when Thailand hosts qualification round. Thaweep Chantaroj, the chairman of Thai Boxing Amateur Association, already predict Thailand will have chance to win six gold in Beijing. The sucess will bring the Association to win the Best Association of the year without a doubt. |

Chaowalit Joggy Gym will be in the bout to show best Muaythai art against Australian Muaythai boxer. Chaowalit, a former Rajadamneun Muaythai champion said he would fly to Hong Kong for Muaythai art performance against Wolf Macy of Australia. The fight will be held on 20 January. Chaowalit said Macy was semi-finalist in the Contender Muaythai, a famous reality show, held in Singapore. Macy was strong boxer but Chaowalit said he confidents he could claim a victory. “He is strong and dangerous boxer but I have work hard and confident to win over him,” he said. Samson Sor Siriporn, Thailand’s first female champion, will begin her defending title this year against Japanese Kayoko Ibata. It will be her third defending title since she won WBC Light Flyweight title last year. Her new opponent, Ibata, beated Samson’s camp fellow, Nong Mai Sor Siriporn, to win Strawweight title last year. Eddy who plays key role behind Somson’s success said he was coordinating with Japanese promoter for live broadcast license for the match will likely to be held on 1 March. Somson was not the only Thai boxer to fight abord this year. There are many other boxers are in queue. |

Thailand mourns for the loss of late Princess Galyani since the New Year comes. All Thais regret for the loss including boxing people who decided to stop organizing the matches for 15 days. But however, the decision has been changed after a week passed, Two Thai boxing stadium, Aom Noi and Channel 7 decided to live its Muaythai matches with the conditions that the fans would have to wear black or white, the colours for mourning. The suspension matches also including amateur boxing fights. Kokiert Promotion which booked the broadcast programmes in the beginning and by the end of January. All have to postponed to Febuary. There is only Galaxy Promotion by Niwat Laosuwanwat which announced PABA defending fight for Poonsawat Krating Dang Gym on 17 January before fighting with his fellow man Sonsak Singchatchawan in March. |

Thailand will spent millions baht for hosting the Olympic qualification round which the kingdom confident to pick three golds in Beijing.
General Thaweep Chantaroj, the chairman of Amateur Boxing Association of Thailand, said the country will spent 10 million baht (300,000 dollars) in hosting the Olympic qualification during 24 January to 3 Febuary. He said there are four Thai boxers who should qualify for Olympic including Voraphot Phetkhum, Manas Boonjamnong, Suriya Prasarthinpimai and Angkan Chompoopuang. |

Thailand’s first female champion Samson Sor Siriporn will fight against Japanese boxer in her third defending fight. Eddy Choowong Toomkit, Samson’s promoter, said Samson will defend her title against Kayako Ibata from Japan who early defeated Nong Mai Sor Siriporn. The fight was likely to be held in Tokyo, Japan, by early March. Eddy added that Samson was started training in the camp and stop other activities. |

Philippines fails to play in the Olympic qualification round held in Thailand late this month.
General Thaweep Chantaroj, the chairman of Amateur Boxing Association of Thailand, said in there are 26 nations sent 164 boxers to fight in the Olympic qualificaion Asia Zone or Bangkok 2008 which will be held between 24 January to 3 Febuary. Thaweep said the organising commitee has cut Phillippines out of the tournament as Philippines failed to meet the dateline to sent entry form by name which set for 1 Janaury 2008. He said the decision had been made carefully and Thailand does not did it in the revenge for Philippines boycott during last month's Sea Games. |

Terdsak Poon Insee Gym of Thailand will challenge WBO Featherweight title next week. His promoter Kokiert Panichayarom said Terdsak will fight against American Steven Lueveno on 15 Janaury. Terdsak are one of among five boxers were training in the Chiang Mai camp since New Year. Kokiert said his boxers were training with quaility boxers in a hope to bring championship title to Thailand. The fight will be held in Las Vegas, United States and will be live broadcast to Thailand. |
